Which Crosslands have the wet belt

The Crossland X launched in 2017 with a non-turbo 1.2 of 81PS and the 1.2 Turbo in 110PS and 130PS form. The non-turbo 1.2 PureTech in the Crossland X is listed by trade suppliers as a belt-in-oil engine, and the turbo is the same Turbo PureTech that Peugeot describes as having a wet timing belt.

Stellantis's PureTech claims list includes the Crossland from 2017 to 2024, covering the later cars sold simply as Crossland too.

Diesel Crosslands use a different engine. If you are not sure what you have, the reg tells us.

Why it matters on a Crossland

A worn belt sheds rubber into the oil. Those particles can block the oil pump strainer and the valve timing solenoids, and an engine that loses oil pressure can be badly damaged. Trade notes also link belt debris to the brake vacuum pump on this engine family.

The Crossland is a small, light car that often does short local trips. Short trips let fuel dilute the oil, and diluted oil is what wears this belt fastest.

Is your Crossland due?

The factory interval for this engine family was revised in April 2017 to 6 years or 100,000 km (about 62,000 miles) in normal use, with checks at services. Some books quote other figures, so check your service schedule; we can confirm from your reg.

Call us if the oil pressure light has come on, if there is a warning with loss of power, or if the brake pedal feels hard.
